Dog kills four months old baby and his elder brother.

Baby, Leaves Brother Fighting For His Life

dd
The four-month-old baby mauled to death by a Staffie in his aunt and uncle’s home had moved into the house a week before for a ‘better life’.
Archie Joe Darby was killed in the attack, while his elder brother Daniel Jay, aged 22 months, was left with life-changing injuries.
The pair and their mother, Jade Rogers, were staying at the home of Jade’s sister Clare Ferdinand and her husband John. Reports suggested that Jade was in the bath when the attack began, and she suffered injuries trying to save her two children from the dog.
It has been suggested that the pet may have attacked the young children in an effort to establish its territory following their recent arrival in the home.
A photo taken from Clare Ferdinand’s Facebook page showed a Staffordshire bull terrier-type dog, the breed responsible in the attack according to police.
In a statement, the boys’ mother and her partner said: ‘Our beautiful sons Archie Joe Darby and Daniel-Jay Darby are so, so loved by us all and were such happy little loveable boys.
‘It doesn’t seem real that our little Archie Bum has gone to heaven and our little Daniel is in intensive care because of a tragic, tragic incident involving a dog attack.
‘We have lost our gorgeous little four –month-old baby and our beautiful 22-month-old boy is currently being treated for his injuries.
‘Heaven has gained a beautiful little angel and he will be greatly missed by us all and our other little soldier is still fighting strong.’
The dog, which has since been put down, was owned by a serving police officer.
It is not known whether PC Clare Ferdinand, 31, was at the address at the time the dog launched its attack.

The 22-year-old, who came to South African last month, said she was led to believe her childhood friend (23) wanted her to help with her two kids. But when she arrived at her home in Agincourt, Mpumalanga she was locked up.

Saudi women demands end of guardianship rules.

saudi
An open letter to the Saudi king is the latest sign of growing demands from Saudi women for basic rights and end to male controls

The grand mufti of Saudi Arabia recently made an official statement saying that Saudi Arabia would never abolish the guardianship system, which legally grants men the ability to control parts of a woman’s life. Some Saudi women, opposing his views, wrote an open letter to the king, petitioning against the guardianship system, and asking that women be treated as adults, not legal minors. That debate has gone viral on Arabic Twitter.
Earlier this month, a clip emerged of the grand mufti in Saudi Arabia, who is the head of the Permanent Committee for Islamic Research and Issuing Fatwas, knocking down rumours that the country would ever abolish the Saudi guardianship system, which currently restricts adult women from rights afforded to Saudi men. Sheikh Abdulaziz al-Sheikh claimed that removing the guardianship system would be a crime against Islam’s teachings and said he saw no merit to the trending hashtags calling for the end of guardianship.
When asked if he was concerned with the recent opposition expressed on Arabic Twitter against the guardianship system, the Sheikh said that the tweets and hashtags were “a crime against Islam” and posed an existential threat to Saudi society. “This is an evil call that goes against the Sharia and the instructions of the prophet,” he responded sternly.
The guardianship system, as it stands now, treats women, in effect, as legal minors. That rule was put into place based on the Quranic interpretation that states that guardians should protect and care for their women.
“Men are the protectors and maintainers of women…” Quran’s Al-Nisa, 4:34.
In Saudi Arabia, the default guardian is the father, whose duty is to protect his daughter until her husband becomes her new guardian. This, of course, complicates issues if a girl is born to a widower or if the girl grows into a woman and never marries. In some cases, a son may become the legal guardian to his mother, thus becoming the authority over her

Operatives of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Bauchi State Police Command have arrested one Lami Clement, 22, for setting a pregnant housewife ablaze.
The suspect who hails from Tafawa Balewa local government area of the state attempted to set ablaze a housewife in their apartment at Sabon Kaura, a suburb of Bauchi metropolis.
Sources said that Lami attacked Amina Lawal, 23, an indigene of Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State, in her house.
Lami reportedly bought a gallon of petrol, which she poured on Lawal and then set her ablaze with a lighter. According to the source, the victim sustained burns on parts of her face, hands and thighs.
Speaking to newsmen at the Police State Command Headquarters, the suspect said she had a relationship with the husband of the victim, Mustapha Ayodele, for three years, but he betrayed her and married Amina.
She said, “I did not actually go there to burn his wife; my intention was to go to his house and burn all his property. I did not know his wife was in the house. He jilted me after long years of relationship and married another woman.”
Giving her own account of the story, Amina Lawal, who is currently recuperating at the Orthopaedics ward of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, said that on the day of the incident, she was in her house when she heard a knock on the door and she opened it and ushered in the visitor.
She said after the suspect had entered the house, she brought out a gallon and poured the petrol in it on her.
Lawal added that after that, her assailant brought out a lighter and set her ablaze; after which she ran out and locked her inside.
“She poured petrol on me and set me ablaze. I removed my clothes and tried to open the door, but she had locked it from outside. It was when my neighbours heard me shouting ‘Fire! Fire!’ that they came to my rescue.
“My husband told me that Lami tried to discourage him from marrying me because she had some affection for him, but he did not know that she could go to the extent of harming me,” Amina explained.
Also speaking on the incident, Mustapha Ayodele, husband of the victim, said that on the 26th of September 2016, he was at work when he received a call from a neighbour that his house was on fire.
“I rushed home and met my wife burnt all over. We reported the matter to the Yelwa Divisional Police Station, after which they transferred us to the emergency ward of ATBU Teaching hospital for treatment.
“I have never dated Lami in my life. I only counselled her on how to go about her life affairs. Why would she attack my wife who is three-month pregnant just because she admires me?” Ayodele asked.
Confirming the incidence, the Police Public Relations Officer, Bauchi State Command, Mahmoud Mohammed, said Lami was arrested on September 27th.
Mohammed, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, said that personal property worth thousands of naira were destroyed during the attack and that the suspect has been charged to cour

Things you should really stop wasting your time on. [must read]

angry_man-nl
Life is short, so fill it with the things that you enjoy.
1. Stop wasting your time watching rubbish on TV
How many times have you sat through an entire TV programme and then ended up complaining about how awful it was? This experience is too common not to learn from. Be proactive. Switch off the TV when a programme is boring and put that time to use for something more productive.
2. Putting on your makeup before you go to the gym
Makes no sense. Because you are only going to get hot and sweaty when you work out and the makeup is going to wear off and spread haphazardly, making you look horrible and feel uncomfortable. So, really, why bother putting it on in the first place? Give makeup a miss and you’ll be surprised how much time you’ll save. Besides, ultimately, no one will notice anyway – it’s a gym, remember?
3. Worrying about what other people think
A useful tip on how to stop wasting time and become happier is to stop stressing about people’s opinion of you, as it’s an utter waste of your time. So long as you are happy with who you are, that’s all that counts. You won’t change other people’s mind about you anyway, so let them get on with it. Let it go.
4. Posting everything you do on social media
Are you a media house covering your own life? Are you one of those people who take photos of every event of the day and then pass it on as news onto your followers on social media? Work out how much time you are wasting on that and then ask yourself if the whole world really needs to know what you had for lunch or what you saw on your way to the shop.
5. Gossiping
Okay, admittedly, gossiping can be fun, but you have to draw the line somewhere. No one can resist a little bit of gossip, but it won’t actually get you anywhere with anything. Trim down your daily gossip quota and spend more time on yourself.
6. Chasing unrequited love
If you don’t seem to be making headway with your crush, then take the hint and give up the pursuit. If a person really isn’t interested into you, you should be able to accept things the way they are, and also to have the strength to move on.
7. Worrying about the past
You can’t change the past, so why worry about it? Think about it. Wallowing in regret, wondering if you could have done something differently, won’t make any difference to what you actually did. Forget it. Concentrate on what you are doing right now and how you can do it well and with happiness.
cool.
8. Doing things that you hate doing
If you hate doing it, why on earth are you doing it at all? Life is short, so fill it with the things that you enjoy. If it’s a chore that absolutely has to be done, then get it done quickly. If it’s something that isn’t essential then leave it and move on to something that will be fun and worthwhile.
9. Following the path that is getting you nowhere
This piece of advice applies equally to relationships and careers. If a chosen path doesn’t appear to be leading where you want it to, then change directions fast. Don’t waste your time being stuck within a place without passion and happiness. Get out and explore new opportunities – you’ll be surprised how many there are.
10. Complaining about how bad your life is
Look, everyone has issues. If you really do think that life has dealt you a bad hand, then deal with it and try and recover! Keep going. Complaining won’t fix any problems, so stand up for yourself and make the changes. You are the architect of your own happiness – take this job seriousl

Man went into an Apple store and smashes every iphone he sees

nintchdbpict000271025366-e1475236064878
He could have been an explosive Samsung fan.
He could simply have been a man with political leanings toward summary violence.
What seems clear, at least according to a video posted online Thursday, is that a man walked into a French Apple store and began smashing as many iPhones as he could find (and a MacBook).
With a petanque ball.
Petanque balls, used in a game similar to bocce, are usually quite heavy. They’re fine instruments of damage. But why would he have a petanque ball with him?
Had he just been sipping a kir royale and playing with his friends at a country house?
Or might he have brought the ball with him specifically to wreak destruction?
Well, he did have a cream glove with him, perhaps to perfect his grip.
The video was posted to Twitter by @Quentin_IOS and has since been taken down (though it can still be viewed on YouTube.) @Quentin IOS declined to give me his real name but said the action occurred in Dijon. He told me a friend of his had shot the video and sent it to him. It’s already been retweeted more than 13,000 times.
@QuentinIOS said he believed the man had asked for a refund, but the store had refused.
Indeed, the man exclaims on the video: “Ladies and gentlemen, Apple is a company that violated European consumers’ rights
He added, “They refused to reimburse me, I told them ‘Give me my money back’. They said no. So you know what’s happening? This is happening.”
Apple didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment on this happening.
The unnamed man, who we realize could very well have been orchestrating a publicity stunt of some sort, appeared very meticulous in his smashing. He picked the upright phones up, placed them on the table and then rammed the petanque balls into their souls.
He was finally accosted by security personnel. He tried to run away, but the men in uniform were faster.
A little aggressive shoving and throat-clutching followed, until the man was pushed through a door in the shopping mall.
Thursday, Apple released an ad that encouraged customers to express themselves better. I feel fairly sure that this man’s actions aren’t quite what the company had in mind.

wow Unbelievable!!! security tortures 5 sales person in Onicha main market of which 4 died.

grind-pepper
A security group at Ochanja Main Market, Onitsha, Anambra State, has been accused of torturing five sales people. Four among them died, while the fifth, a lady, is presently battling to live.
The security group was said to have carried out the torturing of the three men and two ladies on the instructions of their boss, said to be a trader in the market.
While the boys were tortured with machete cuts, grinded pepper was poured into the private parts of the ladies. The ladies were also alleged to have been brutalised.
One of the female traders in the market said: “One of the boys was inflicted with machete wounds at the office of the market’s security group, leading to his death.” The machete cuts, which were inflicted on the boy’s forehead, caused his immediate death.
The boy has been identified as Jekwu. Jekwu, two other boys and two ladies were sales persons to their boss, identified simply as Edimor. It was learnt that Edimor sells bathroom slippers. Edimor accused the five sales persons of stealing his N350,000.
Another trader said: “Edimor said that he told them to take the cash to the bank, which they did. They, however, returned to the shop after they saw that the crowd at the bank was much. The following day, they started searching for the money in the shop.
The three boys and two girls told Edimor they were not in possession of the money, but he wouldn’t believe them. “He invited the security group to do everything to ensure his sales people confess to the stealing.”
When the security grouped realised Jekwu was dead, they quickly rushed the other two boys to the hospital.
The two boys also later died at the hospital. The torture was said to have been too much for them.
“The girls were tortured with grinded pepper, which was poured into their private parts. The pain was said to have killed one of the girls at the hospital, while the other is still battling to stay alive,” another source said. When Edimor heard of the tragedy, he bolted, but police tracked and arrested him.

Hiv-Aids now has full cure

A British man with HIV undergoing a pioneering treatment to cure him of the disease has shown “remarkable” progress, doctors have told a newspaper.
Scientists treating the 44-year-old patient are now hopeful of a breakthrough in what has been described as “one of the first serious attempts at a full cure for HIV”.
Results showed the man’s most recent blood test showed no detectable HIV was present.
The man, who has remained anonymous, is the first of 50 people to complete a trial using the two-stage attack on the deadly virus.
The research is being carried out by a collaboration of five of Britain’s top universities organised by the National Health Service.
Mark Samuels, managing director of the National Institute for Health Research Office for Clinical Research Infrastructure, told the Sunday Times: “This is one of the first serious attempts at a full cure for HIV. We are exploring the real possibility of curing HIV.
“This is a huge challenge and it’s still early days but the progress has been remarkable.”
The trial patient told the newspaper that recent blood tests showed no detectable HIV virus was present, although it was too early to confirm that the treatment had worked.
The new therapy aims to overcome a major barrier to clearing the virus from a sufferer’s body that has challenged researchers for decades.
Current methods using antiretroviral therapies (Art) fall short of ridding patients of HIV, as the virus can hide out of the drugs’ reach in the immune system’s T-cells.
By sheltering in dormant T-cells the virus can later take over its host and use it to produce thousands of copies of itself, should Art no longer work.
The research by Oxford and Cambridge universities, Imperial College London, University College London, and King’s College London, is testing a “kick and kill” technique to first expose, then destroy the virus.
First a vaccine helps the body find infected T-cells. This is then followed by a course of the drug Vorinostat that awakens the dormant T-cells, which then begin producing HIV proteins that act as a homing beacon to the immune system.
Imperial College London consultant physician Professor Sarah Fidler said the treatment worked in the laboratory and there was “good evidence” it will work in patients.
However she added: “We must stress we are still a long way from any actual therapy

Public primary and secondary schools in Bayelsa have yet to resume for the 2016/2017 session because of the failure of the state government to settle their seven months salary arrears.
The teachers embarked on a strike at the end of the 2015/2016 long vacation which ended in the first week of September.
The Bayelsa chapter of Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) in a statement on Monday advised teachers to stay at home till their demands were met.
The union said the industrial action became inevitable after the expiration of its 21-day ultimatum to the government on Sept. 19.
In a statement signed by the state Chairman of NUT, Mr Kalaama Toinpre, and Secretary, Mr Johnson Hector, the teachers condemned alleged efforts to factionalise the union.
The union said it remained the legally recognised body charged with the responsibility of agitating for the welfare of primary and secondary school teachers.
The union expressed regret that the government had reneged on an earlier agreement reached in May to pay half salaries to its workers pending improvements in the finances of the state.
It said that the state government had only paid teachers their January salary in full and half salary in February, thereby leaving arrears of seven months. .
Meanwhile, the state Commissioner for Education, Mr. Markson Fefegha, said the government had been meeting with the teachers to resolve the issues raised by the teachers.
“We have been meeting with the executive of the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools, I have been explaining to them our efforts so far in meeting our salary obligations.” Fefegha said.

Gunmen have caused serious tension in a police station after they stormed the place to unleash horror.
At least four police officers have been killed by gunmen in Benue State.
According to Premium Times, the officers were killed in an overnight attack carried out by the gunmen on their police post in central Benue State.
Witnesses revealed that the yet-to-be-identified gunmen stormed the police divisional headquarters in Igumale, the headquarters of Ado Local Government Area, shortly after midnight on October 2, killing all the four officers on duty.
Premium Times reports that Ajibo Ochulayi, a community leader in the agrarian town, said the attackers carted away the guns and ammunition of the officers.
Mr. Ochulayi said while two officers died on the spot, two others later passed on in a medical centre in Makurdi, the state capital.
“It is sad that the gunmen were able to overpower the policemen and killed all the four of them with little resistance,” Mr. Ochulayi said.
He said the state’s police commissioner, Bashir Makama, visited the scene on Sunday afternoon with a few mobile police officers to assess the aftermath.
Benue is one of the states in central Nigeria that have experienced deadly attacks in recent months due mainly to clashes between farmers and pastoralists.
According to Premium Times, at least 1,269 deaths through herdsmen attacks have been chronicled in the last four years.
But Mr. Ochulayi said police have only launched a manhunt for the assailants, and no one has been identified on the motive of the attack.
The police is yet to speak on the issue.
Premium Times reports that efforts to reach the police spokespersons for the latest on the attack were unsuccessful.
When contacted, Ezeani Amaechi, who the police listed on its website as the public relations officer in Benue, said he had left the department.
He gave a number of a man he said is his successor, but the number was switched off after several hours of trying.
The telephone number of Don Awunah, the Force PRO in Abuja, has been switched off for weeks.
Premium Times reached his deputy, Jimoh Moshood, who promised to make enquiries about the name of the spokesperson in Benue State and revert within minutes.
Mr. Moshood was yet to get back as at the time of publishing this report
