Lionel Messi has embarrassed practically every one of the world’s great goalkeepers during his illustrious career, so Carlos Lampe shouldn’t feel too downbeat when he wakes up today.

However, the poor Bolivian keeper was left red-faced by the world’s best player during Tuesday night’s Copa America match against Argentina.The assistant referee had, incidentally, already raised his flag for offside - but, judging by the body language of the two players, it didn’t appear as if either of them knew at the time.

Had the referee not blown his whistle for offside, it would have been one of the cheekiest goals of all time.
